Miriam Q & A

Meet Miriam, Yard Sale Store's co-owner and founder

Question: Have you always had an entrepreneurial spirit?

Miriam: Yes, at 13 years old I would help my mother run her own small business. When she
was traveling, I would handle the day-to-day operations, from designing the product to
delivery to customers.

Q: Did you have a business mentor or someone in your life who inspired you to pursue

M: Yes, Daymond John — the founder of FUBU and current Shark Tank host! We met in
Miami and he would give advice often and he inspired me to become a business owner.

Q: You and [your husband] Sean work side-by-side daily, and you have family members
involved elsewhere in the company. What’s it like working with your family on a regular

M: My husband is my best and only partner, in business and in life. My sister and
brother-in-law have been with us from the beginning and helped us build the company into
what it is today. Sometimes stressful but always rewarding. I am blessed to work with them
each and every day.

Q: Do you have any side projects or organizations you’re involved with or would like to

M: Yes, personally I volunteer at our church, World Outreach. Additionally, our company is
involved with Greenhouse Ministries out of Murfreesboro and Maasay Yahdav, a fantastic
organization that offers humanitarian aid to Israel.

Q: Do you have any tips for specifically girls and women out there who want to start their
own business? Anything you wish you would have known when you were starting out?

M: Find something you enjoy doing, but equally important, you need to find the right team.
You cannot do it alone.
